![]() ![]() ![]() These are two words my students now hear me say everyday and are really starting to use themselves. Model show and tell to encourage clear speaking. Ask students to identify ways that they are different from their peers, such as different hair and eye colors. Ask students if they have ever heard this story before. Two favorites are:Have You Seen My Cat by Eric Carle. Introduction (5 minutes) Show students the cover of the book Rainbow Fish. Wow… I can’t believe it’s taken me three paragraphs to say the word EVIDENCE or also known as PROOF. Read question and answer books as they model correct sentence structures. snap a photo and print it out for them to use as a book front cover or writing prompt illustration. I hope they can be helpful to you as you make your January and February lesson plans. So, pre-close read I would read the teacher’s manual’s questions…you know “Who took the ball?” “What happened after he took the ball?” Those “kind” of questions! It wasn’t until I made my own close reading lesson plans did I understand what questions to ask and how to turn those teacher manual questions into something even more! I could still ask those simple recall questions, but if I did my kids HAVE to provide evidence on how they got it. Lets capitalize on that learning-growth spurt and plan some great winter kindergarten activities. Find printable worksheets on any topic: vocabulary, grammar, listening, reading.
